Frances Macdonald, who exhibits at the Portland Gallery in London and the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh, is the resident artist and proprietor of the Hotel. The hotel is ideally located for cyclists on "The Caledonia Way" - National Route 78 of the National Cycle Network passes less than 2 miles from the Crinan Hotel and the detour to get to us is easy cycling along the level, car-free canal towpath.Ĭrinan has become a magnet for many of Scotland’s top artists who stay, paint and exhibit regularly. You can enjoy stunning walks, cycling and mountain biking, kayaking and horseriding and this is the heart of Dalriada, Historic Scotland! There is an astonishing number of prehistoric standing stones and carved rocks just up the road at Kilmartin Glen. Golfers can head for Machrihanish Championship Links Course, an easy drive from Crinan. There is a wide variety of things to do at Crinan and in the surrounding area. The seafood is caught by small local boats and if you would like to get to sea yourself boat trips to the Isle Jura and the Gulf of Corryvreckan offer the chance to spot sea eagles, seals, minke whales and much more. Vegetarian, vegan and childrens menus are also available. There will be plenty of choices, and as well as our amazing freshly-landed seafood we will have Argyll steaks, venison and hill lamb. Dinner is served in either the Seafood Bar or The Westward Restaurant, also from an a la carte menu with additional specials. Our A la Carte menu can be viewed online. Lunch is served in the Seafood Bar or under the wonderful tent on the patio. Jumbo prawns (langoustines) are landed 20 metres from the hotel kitchen at 17.00 hours in time for dinner. There has been an inn on this site for over 300 years and the Crinan Hotel has been owned by the Ryan family for over 40 years. The Hotel is situated on the waterfront at Loch Crinan 6.5 miles from Lochgilphead and 35 miles from Oban. The Crinan Hotel is a magnificently eccentric hotel in Argyll on Scotland's beautiful west coast.
